Google's commitment to Fort Wayne extends beyond the data center itself. The company is launching its Skilled Trades and Readiness (STAR) program in collaboration with Ivy Tech Community College. This initiative aims to increase the entry-level pipeline in skilled trades, with a focus on underrepresented communities. Participants in the paid training program will have the opportunity to network and move directly into jobs at Google data center construction sites or other local projects. Furthermore, Google has pledged $250,000 in initial community and programmatic support, benefiting two vital Fort Wayne initiatives: the new Fort Wayne Early Learning Center and Just Neighbors Interfaith Homeless Network, the city's only local emergency housing shelter for families in need.
